Нидерланды

So, I stumbled upon some jolly good news on the ba So, I stumbled upon some jolly good news on the backstreets of Twitter that a Kazakh cuisine restaurant has opened up in Luxembourg. I marked it on my map and let the idea simmer for a bit. I mean, "If... someday... we find ourselves in Lux, then we'll definitely hit up that restaurant."

And recently, the depths of Instagram brought me a post titled "Don't complicate things." I can't even remember what the post was about, let alone if I read it, but the phrase struck a chord with me. I mean, what's stopping us? We packed up the car on the weekend and hit the road. We booked a hotel for the night, reserved a table at the restaurant, and what's there to delay?

We arrived at the @brasserie_favorite_luxembourg on a rainy Saturday evening, having worked up quite an appetite walking around Luxembourg. The place was chock-a-block, but that's no surprise - the food is exceptional. For those who know how fussy Margo can be with her food, let me tell you, she devoured the lagman and khinkali like a wild animal from a nature show. When someone from the pack approached her, she let out a guttural growl to protect her prey.

Anyway, that's pretty much it. We spent two days exploring the capital of another country, ate at an amazing place with incredible nosh made by an amazing chef. We even got some books for Margo at an Italian shop and found this awesome Scottish pub @scottspublux (reserve a table for two by the hearth - it's cute). We came back home after Sunday lunch, feeling alive and refreshed. It was all pretty chill, you know.
We recently returned from Jahorina, where we spent We recently returned from Jahorina, where we spent our Christmas break skiing and indulging in festive cheer

Our previous visit to Jahorina was in 2014, and I remember it vividly. While waiting for our snowboards to be delivered from storage, the rental worker offered us a shot of rakia, a local moonshine with a whopping 70-degree. It smelled like an old man's musty slippers and tasted like a fermented crow. But, much has changed since our last visit. The resort has undergone a complete overhaul, with new amenities and possibilities for guests to explore. They've even added a new lift, so you can get up the mountain faster and with more style

We stayed at Hotel Vucko once again, and I must say, it's still cozy and comfortable. However, I was perplexed to discover that they've lost one star since our last visit. Who knows why? Perhaps the ghost of fermented crow has come back to haunt them

The hotel boasts an exceptional wine bar, offering an extensive selection of local Balkan wines. Fortunately, children are not allowed in the wine bar, but the hotel offers a playroom for them to frolic in for only 7e p/d. The playroom is staffed with 2 employees who take care of the little ones, even accompanying them to the toilet. The only downside to our stay at Hotel Vucko was the pervasive smoke that hung in the air. Smoking is allowed indoors in Bosnia, and it seemed that the ventilation system had gone awry

M had a jam-packed schedule during our stay: each day started with a breakfast, followed by skiing, a snack, a dip in the pool, and the rest of the day in the playroom. We swam at the Termag hotel pool, which costs 30e for non-guests. But, we discovered that children under a certain age get in for free, so, we paid for ourselves
We also enjoyed cocktails with a breathtaking view of the mountain top. Cafe Olimp, the highest cafe in the Balkans, is located at an altitude of 1916m above sea level. And, for breakfast, we savored pancakes at Cafe Galeria, which is conveniently located near the lifts
We look forward to returning someday, with the hope that the ghost of fermented crow will not haunt us again
